Coaching

“Coaching is predominantly an exercise in self-understanding and self-changing on the part of the coachee” – Erik De Haan.

Experiential and reflective learning are integral to the coachee’s journey of transformation. Making mutual respect, trust and confidentiality between coach and coachee, integral to coaching engagements. At metanoia Network, we are particularly sensitive to our clients’ needs and vulnerabilities while supporting them through their journeys. Different approaches are used in coaching by our coaches on mutual agreement of the coach and coachee. We invite our coachees to come uninhibited to us with their requirements and aspirations.

Theatre

“The story is a machine for empathy. In contrast to logic or reason, a story is about emotion that gets staged over a sequence of dramatic moments, so you empathize with the characters without really thinking about it too much. It is a really powerful tool for imagining yourself in other people’s situations.”
— Ira Glass.

The use of theatre and its varied modalities are a very effective tool used in coaching in the corporate world and elsewhere. Theatre, when effectively integrated into coaching programme can be an incredible teaching and learning tool, particularly in areas of performance enhancement and overall work-community development. Theatre and story-telling are also particularly adept at helping both individuals and corporate structures in the areas of diversity and inclusivity.
Theatre is one of the most flexible tools in helping both individuals and groups work their way towards personal and performance enhancement. Theatre works via empathy; hence it becomes a safe way for individuals to access issues and emotions which are often nuanced and deceptive. Theatre is particularly well-positioned to create coaching modules and programmes which are experiential, reflective and compelling in their effectiveness.
